We took this photo in a village about an hour from Gulu called Paibona Tuga. It was here that we heard the sound of the traditional ‘likembe’ or thumb piano for the first time. We were surprised when it looked like the musicians were setting light to their drums but were reassured to find out that by heating the skin of the drum this is how they are tuned.
