Central and Eastern Kenya: Day 0 – London/Nairobi

Message from Ketebul Team

For this trip, we are Tabu Osusa (Interview 1), Steve Kivutia (Audio 2), Patrick Ondiek (Video 1) and Nick Abonyo (Audio 3, Mr Clapperboard).   We are joined on this trip by:

• Gregg Twenda (Interview 2), who is from the Kamba ethnic community and will be helping interview the groups (e mail:  gregtendwa@gmail.com)
• Lewis Koome (Video 3), who is from the Meru ethnic community and has been our primary contact person to support this trip (e mail:   lkoome2000@yahoo.com)
• Raphael Sipalla (Audio 4) our ‘Influences’ artist (e mail:  ruffmaud@yahoo.com)

We will be interviewing them throughout this trip to provide additional color to our Field Reports.  We spent our Saturday packing and preparing the vans for the trip.

Message from Abubilla Music Foundation Team

For this trip, we are Jimmy Allen (Video 2) and Andy Paterson (Audio 1).   We spent our Saturday travelling from London to Nairobi.  On arrival we were greeted warmly by Priscah Nyamburu, Ketebul’s Front Office Assistant, and Thomas Owiyo, Ketebul’s driver, who drove us to the Fairview.  We settled down about 1:30AM, with alarm clocks set for 4:30AM.
